Leo Katz was formally trained at the Fine Arts Academy in Vienna Austria between 1905-1909. He traveled extensively and continued his studies while painting portraits between 1910-1914. From 1934 to 1946 was active in printmaking and served as Stanley Hayter’s assistant at Atelier 17. Leo completed about 20 important prints while at Atelier 17 and closed the operation for Hayter when he returned to France in 1950.
