Irwin D. Hoffman (AM 1901-1989) – The Stoker – Etching, 1935, 8 7/8 x 5 7/8, signed in pencil, signed and dated in the plate. This piece is in excellent condition. It was included in the publication “Great American Works of the 1930’s” a collection of 100 prints which quickly became a standard of achievement for print collectors.



The image depicts a ship stoker in the Rotterdam in the 1930’s. The ship was eventually torpedoed by the Germans during a WWII battle.
