A ten year study, this collection of paintings and text by Jacqueline Bishop and essays by others including Maria Jose Bezerra, Wade Davis, and Jonathan Malow and interviews with Ilzamar Gadelha Mendes, and fellow rubber tappers documents the efforts of Chico Mendes, a Brazilian rubber tapper, to stop the destruction of the rain forests and his people. After his murder in 1988, Jacqueline Bishop painted a portrait of him ever year and collected a wealth of information about his life, work and death. The volume includes 16 full color prints, with text in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
